Butter boards are the latest viral TikTok trend. It’s made with softened butter, spread on a board and topped with various ingredients such as fresh herbs, flakey salt, hot honey (like my gochujang hot honey), or even fresh fruit. It’s a fun way to serve as an appetizer with crunchy bread!
I was inspired by Justine Snacks after she posted her butter board on TikTok!
Check out two delicious variations of the TikTok trend including a miso butter board topped with fresh herbs, flakey salt, and honey or a sweet and salty butter board with gochujang hot honey, flakey salt, and edible dried flowers.
Butter boards are a fun way to entertain because the combinations are endless, you can be as creative as you want! Serve the boards with some good crunchy bread and a butter knife. No double dipping is allowed so you can save the leftover butter for other recipes when cooking!
Make them ahead and keep them in the fridge until you’re ready to serve 😉

What you’ll need to make butter boards:
- Butter: you can use unsalted or salted butter. Kerrygold is one of my favorites!
- Flakey salt: I recommend flakey salt for this recipe— it has a unique texture and better mouthfeel as a finishing salt! Be sure to adjust your salt depending on the type of butter you use. Maldon salt is my favorite finishing salt.
- Toppings and Mix-ins: fresh herbs, honey, fresh fruit, nuts, spices, jams, or preserves.
- Bread of choice: I recommend french or sourdough bread.

What you’ll need for Miso Herb Butter Board:
