This tofu recipe is made with cold silken tofu, cilantro, and cucumber, and topped with a savory peanut sauce. This recipe comes together in less than 10 minutes, making it the perfect light meal or snack.
What you’ll need to make this Cold Silken Tofu with Peanut Sauce:
- Silken tofu: I recommend that you use silken tofu and not any other kind to achieve a luxurious, silky texture.
- Garlic
- Peanut butter: smooth or crunchy peanut butter can be used for this recipe.
- Ginger
- Cilantro
- Cucumber
- Lime juice
- Soy sauce
- Agave: honey can be substituted for agave.
- Water

How to make this Cold Silken Tofu with Peanut Sauce:
To make the Peanut Sauce:
In a bowl, combine the minced garlic, soy sauce, agave, peanut butter, grated ginger, lime juice, and water. Whisk to combine all the ingredients and mix well.
To assemble:
Drain the water from the silken tofu packet and use a paper towel to remove any excess liquid. Place the silken tofu onto a plate.
Using a knife, make several vertical cuts, cutting only halfway through. Do the same in the horizontal direction, almost like a grid pattern. I found that this helps the sauce seep through the tofu more, so you get more flavor in each bite.
Drizzle the peanut sauce over the tofu and garnish with chopped cilantro and cucumber slices (toppings can be optional).
This silken tofu dish can be enjoyed cold but if you prefer warm tofu, you can microwave the silken tofu on a plate for 30 seconds prior to drizzling the peanut sauce. I personally enjoy this dish cold, but I know it’s not for everyone!
