Fig and Bacon Flatbread

by Yejiskitchenstories

This easy and delicious flatbread is made with sweet fig jam, a savory cheese spread, crispy bacon, caramelized onion, and fresh arugula. It’s the perfect flatbread to enjoy as an appetizer, for brunch, or as a side!

What you’ll need:

  • Fig Jam: you can find this at most grocery stores in the jams/spread aisle. Another great alternative would be peach preserves or even honey.
  • Boursin Cheese: My favorite is this Boursin cheese. They come in so many delicious flavors, but I chose the carmelized onion flavor for this recipe. Alternatively, you can use any other soft, spreadable cheese of choice.
  • Store-bought Flatbread: I used Atoria’s Lavash Flatbread for this recipe, but feel free to use any kind of flatbread of choice. Naan bread would work great for this recipe too.
  • Bacon: crispy, salty bacon pairs well with the tantalizing sweetness of the fig jam and caramelized onions.
  • Caramelized Onions: I like to cook my onion slices on low heat until they are tender and caramelized.
  • Arugula: I like the pairing of the peppery taste of fresh arugula for this flatbread but feel free to swap it out for cilantro or basil!

How to make this Fig and Bacon Flatbread:

  1. Spread the fig jam and Boursin cheese on the flatbread.
  2. Add the bacon and caramelized onion on top of the fig jam/cheese mixture.
  3. Bake the flatbread at 400ºF for 3-5 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
  4. Top the flatbread with fresh arugula and enjoy immediately!
