This dreamy french toast is made with pillowy Hawaiian rolls with a hint of bourbon. These french toast cubes are fluffy, crispy on the edges, and perfect when finished off with a dusting of powdered sugar. These are so delicious that everyone will be reaching for them!
What you’ll need to make Hawaiian Roll French Toast:
- Sugar
- Buttermilk: you can alternatively use regular milk, but I’ve found that the tanginess from the buttermilk adds a nice extra depth of flavor.
- Cinnamon
- Egg
- Hawaiian Rolls
- Bourbon
- Vanilla Extract

How to make these Hawaiian Roll French Toast at home:
To make the egg custard:
In a bowl, beat the egg, buttermilk, bourbon, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar to make the custard for dipping the rolls. Whisk the mixture until smooth.
To make the french toast:
Heat the butter in a large pan on medium-low heat. Keep an eye on the butter to prevent it from burning.
Dip the Hawaiian rolls in the bowl of custard, making sure to coat all sides of the roll. Place the dipped rolls into the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Serve the french toast with a dusting of powdered sugar or maple syrup.
