chili oil noodles

Here is a quick and easy recipe to make spicy chili oil noodles in 10 minutes or less!

These chili oil noodles are spicy, savory, and really flavorful. I used somen noodles for this recipe, but you can substitute them with other noodles such as soba, egg noodles, or glass noodles.

What you’ll need to make spicy chili oil noodles:

  • green onion
  • garlic
  • gochugaru (Korean chili pepper flakes)
  • neutral oil (such as canola, vegetable, avocado)
  • dark soy sauce
  • rice wine vinegar (can substitute with white wine vinegar or white balsamic vinegar)
  • cilantro
  • sugar

How to make this recipe at home:

Bring a medium pot of water to a boil on high heat. Once the water is boiling, add the somen noodles and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until done.

While the noodles are cooking, combine chopped green onion, minced garlic, gochugaru, dark soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, cilantro, and sugar in a bowl (basically all the ingredients except for the oil). Set it aside for now.

In a small pot, heat the oil on medium-high heat for 1-2 minutes or until the oil starts to smoke. Once the oil is smoking, take the pot off the heat and pour the oil directly into the bowl with the other ingredients.

Once the noodles are done, drain the water and place the noodles into the bowl with the chili oil.

Using tongs or chopsticks, mix the noodles and chili oil together. Enjoy šŸ™‚
